On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, hundreds of prominent civic leaders, elected officials, public servants, and members of the business and philanthropic communities gathered at the Freedom Tower at Miami-Dade College in downtown Miami to celebrate Constitution Day. Constitution Day is a federal observance honoring the U.S. Constitution and the rights it bestows on United States citizens.
Journalist Helen Aguirre Ferré served as master of ceremonies. Notable judges, elected officials, attorneys, war veterans and other prominent community leaders read sections of the Constitution of the United States in celebration of Constitution Day 2013.
As part of the event, dozens of community leaders read aloud from the Constitution. In addition, iPads were awarded to middle-school and high-school winners of a Constitution-themed essay contest after Boy Scout Troop 80 presented the flag.
The law firm of Higer Lichter Givner, HistoryMiami, and Legal Services of Greater Miami hosted this second annual event.
